About Customisation

Can I customise products?

Training Packages can only be customised according to the customisation options outlined in each Training Package. If you are varying the competency mix of Training Package, you should check the qualification guidelines to ensure that your selection meets the competency requirements of the qualification level. Training authorities provide Training Package implementation guides that refer to the endorsed components. It is also possible to incorporate competency standards from two or more Training Packages to create a new qualification. However, the qualification still has to be accredited by the relevant State or Territory training authority. Support materials can be customised where the copyright owner provides permission. The individual product will provide information on user rights on the imprint page (reverse page of the title page).

What is the Australian Quality Training Framework?

TheAustralian Quality Training Framework (AQTF)is a set of nationally agreed standards that ensures the high quality of vocational education and training services in Australia. The AQTF evolved from the original Australian Recognition Framework (ARF) that underwent revision during 2000 and 2001. On 8 June 2001, Ministers renamed the framework to the Australian Quality Training Framework. The name was changed to reflect the increased emphasis on quality in the national vocational education and training system. There are two sets of standards under the AQTF; Standards for Registered Training Organisations and Standards for State and Territory Registering and Course Accrediting Bodies. What is a Training Package?

Training Packages are a set of nationally endorsed standards and qualifications for recognising and assessing people's skills in a specific industry sector. Along with the 'packaging' of units of competency, they contain assessment guidelines for the award of the qualification and the full set of competencies. Training Packages are developed by industry through theIndustry Skills Councils (ISC's)or by enterprises to meet the identified training needs of specific industries or industry sectors. The group of competencies for that industry are then endorsed by Commonwealth, State and Territory Governments and approved for use throughout Australia. Training Packages consist of competency standards, assessment guidelines and qualifications. They do not include support materials such as learning strategies, assessment resources and professional development materials, nor do they state how training is to be delivered or the final assessment methodology. You can search for units of competency at theNational Training Information Service.
