In this module you will begin a journey into children's play and leisure. Along the way you will discover what play is (and is not!) and that children's play progresses through stages. You will learn that play is a means for helping children to learn positive attitudes about others. You will also learn that people have different attitudes to play.
As you travel this journey into play, you will gain new skills in choosing and preparing suitable materials and resources to foster play and leisure. And you will practise setting up an environment which encourages children to make choices and decisions about their play and leisure activities.
Finally you will have the opportunity to plan, implement and evaluate a variety of suitable play experiences for a group of children. As you read through this module, names of people sometimes appear in brackets following new ideas. The ideas have come from these people. Have a happy trip!!
