The Database Administration supports delivery of Certificate IV in Information Technology (Database Administration). The Toolbox is divided into two components - Database Administration and Software Customisation. The reason behind the division lies with the competencies that are covered in each of the two component areas.
Each component area of the toolbox includes two virtual companies - a small family art gallery and a large private training organization. Learners can choose to complete one or both of the virtual company briefs in each component area.
Learners can use two different learning strategies for the virtual company they choose - a structured plan approach and a project brief approach. The structured plan enables learners to work through the resource content before attempting to complete a brief. Learners using the project brief approach can attempt to complete the brief without first accessing the content resources. The pretests provided are there to help the learner gauge their knowledge of the subject matter in each brief.
