Series 3 (released November, 2001).
This Toolbox has been constructed to reflect the National Retail Competency standards. Each of the eleven units of competency in this Toolbox is arranged under the existing phase structure of the National Retail Training Package. This Toolbox contains a variety of training resources ranging from work-based and interactive activities to group discussion questions. Many of the activities focus on the current workplace responsibilities of the learner and are designed to encourage them to develop and post suggestions or alternative solutions to a notice board to foster peer interaction.
Each component of this Toolbox has been designed as an individual learning resource that can be used independently of other components to create a totally customised training program. The design also provides the option of including additional materials or contextualising the existing content to suit the learner’s needs.
This Toolbox takes a problem solving, scenario based approach to learning. In addition to the scenarios that form the base for each unit of competency, the learner is provided with a variety of resources and suggested options to develop the skills and knowledge that they require.
The Toolbox features a multi-path navigation system that enables the learner to choose from a variety of learning options. They may choose to work with the content information and move into related activities, use the scenario as the base to complete related activities, or move in and out of competencies taking only the information that is appropriate to them. The flexibility of this design enables each learner to quickly locate the specific information or activity they need from anywhere in the program.
