Supporting levels I-III in reading, writing and numeracy of the National Reporting System (NRS), the main features of Basic Skills in the Cybercentre include:
- A series of "real life" scenarios based within a shopping mall, the Cybercentre, where users can undertake a number of different activities, mainly within shops. These activities require a range of both literacy and numeracy skills, but also introduce the learner to some aspects of the WWW and working online. Each activity is supported by access to a range of instructional activities that teach the user basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- A Learning Centre where all the literacy and numeracy instructional activities are available. These comprise all the teaching activities that arise from the Cybercentre scenarios. So users can decide whether they wish to access the instructional materials directly through the Training Centre, or whether they enter the Cybercentre and undertake the games and activities in the shops and stores.
- A CyberZone with a number of games where users can practise a range of basic numeracy and literacy skills.
- An Internet Cafe where users are introduced to various aspects of learning online and using the WWW, and where there will be links to other suitable literacy and numeracy sites.
