Ever been to Clearwater? Clearwater is a small coastal town in Australia with a very active landcare organisation called the Clearwater Landcare Centre. The centre is run by several permanent staff with the support of many dedicated volunteers. Some of the volunteers have trained at the centre as well. The Landcare Centre also has a very popular website where you'll find a lot more information about what's happening in the Clearwater River catchment area.

About This Toolbox

The activities and resources in this Toolbox are set in a 'virtual' landcare centre, where staff, trainees and volunteers carry out landcare activities. The Toolbox uses a problem-based learning approach, supplemented with generic learning resources. At the completion of each on-line task, students are encouraged to undertake similar activities in their workplace with the support of their supervisor or teacher.

Supporting Certificate II (various streams) in RTD02 Conservation and Land Management, this Toolbox contains 10 individual Units of Competence. All units selected are found in three or more streams, including the General Stream of the Training Package. The Toolbox can be used for on-line students or to complement face-to face training delivery. It is suitable for rural, regional and urban students, at entry-level training.

Why Buy It?

Conservation and Land Management has relevance to the whole of Australia. It replaces many state-based courses and provides formal training that has not been generally available in the past. This Toolbox provides a much-needed and possibly unique source of formal training material, particularly for rural and distance students who have little opportunity to travel to an urban registered training organisation (RTO). Urban students benefit from online training as an alternative or supplement to face-to-face classes. Plus, the copyright is flexible, so you can reproduce this Toolbox as many times as you want!
