Hospitality Series 2 Toolbox (released March 2001, re-released November 2004)
Training Package: CHC02 Community Services
Description: The Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) Toolbox includes 19 learning units covering 9 units of competency from the CHC02 Community Services Training Package. Each competency is represented as a village. Within the village, the learning units can be found within the various buildings.
Each of the nine competencies is made up of:
- Learning units which contain information about particular aspects of the AOD sector, learning activities to allow you to further develop skills and knowledge
- Case studies of people within the sector (found in the workplace building)
- Library resources to assist your studies, including articles, recommended reading and suggested websites (found in the library building)
- Points of view of people who work in the AOD sector and other contributors who have an interest in AOD issues (found in the workplace building)
- Discussion starters specific to the learning unit you are studying.
Version 2 includes both technical and educational improvements. The entry into the Toolbox has been streamlined, the existing village metaphor and directory structure rationalised, and navigation improved for learner orientation. First time users of the Toolbox are now given clearer directions on how to access the Learning Units with the addition of the text "Go to the Learning Centre to work through the required Learning Units." Competency units have been updated to the current Community Services Training Package CHC02 with new content and activities. The Teacher's Guide and Learners Guide have been updated, as has the competency task matrix.
